(DailyDig.com) – The famous chef and once Food Network celebrity, Michael Chiarello, died on October 7. He was 61.
In a statement, Chiarello’s family paid respect to the famous chef and expressed their sorrow at his death. He had an unbreakable dedication to his family, an endless imagination, and was a brilliant chef. He united people through the pleasure of eating together, creating cherished traditions in the process.
The statement went on to say that while Chiarello’s loved ones cope with their tremendous loss, they will always treasure the memories they made in their lives and in his kitchens. His impact will be carried on in the hearts of those he taught to appreciate the finer things in life through the food he prepared for them.
The TV star had spent the last week in Napa, California, at Queen of the Valley Medical Center, getting treatment for an extreme allergic reaction that caused anaphylactic shock.
His allergic response and hospitalization are mysteries that have yet to be revealed.
Chiarello, who was born in 1962 in Red Bluff, California, and went on to study in New York at the Culinary Institute of America, launched his first restaurant in the Napa Valley, Tra Vigne, in 1987. His website claims that in 1999, he entered the wine industry by establishing Chiarello Family Vineyards. NapaStyle, a range of artisanal home, kitchen, and culinary products, was launched by him the following year.
Then, in 2001, Chiarello made his television debut with the premiere of his first program, “Season by Season,” on PBS. In 2003, he launched a new program on the Food Network called “Easy Entertaining,” and in 2004, he became the presenter of “NapaStyle,” which debuted on the Fine Living Network (now the Cooking Channel).
Over the course of his career, he has also written many cookbooks, the most recent of which is “Michael Chiarello’s Live Fire: 125 Recipes for Cooking Outdoors,” published in 2013.
Giana, Felicia, and Margaux, all girls, and Aiden, a boy, are Chiarello’s surviving children.
