(DailyDig.com) – Evan Ellingson, a child star in Hollywood, died on November 5 at his home in Fontana, San Bernardino County. He was 35.
The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department reports that he was discovered in his bedroom around 11:30 a.m. An autopsy and toxicology testing were performed on November 6, and the cause of his death is pending. Although authorities have not determined what caused his death, they have maintained that there is no evidence of foul play.
Michael Ellingson reported that his son had been residing in a sober living facility as he had suffered from drug use in the past but was making progress. A tremendous shock to the family, Michael said, was Ellingson’s untimely death.
Ellingson made his acting debut in a TV movie when he was 13 and later appeared as a guest star on “General Hospital.”
For his part alongside Abigail Breslin and Cameron Diaz in Nick Cassavetes’ 2009 film adaptation of Jodi Picoult’s “My Sister’s Keeper,” Ellingson has become a household name. He played Jesse Fitzgerald, the adolescent son of Diaz’s Sara and brother to Breslin’s Anna, who was created to give blood and stem cells to their sister, Kate (Sofia Vassilieva), who was diagnosed with an acute case of promyelocytic leukemia.
Earlier, from 2004 through 2005, Ellingson starred in nineteen installments of the comedy “Complete Savages” and guest-starred in ten installments of “24” as Kiefer Sutherland’s Jack Bauer’s nephew.
Subsequently, Ellingson guest-starred on shows including “That Was Then,” “Titus,” “Bones,” and “Mad TV.” He has also made appearances in movies including “The Bondage,” “Walk the Walk,” “Time Changer,” and “Confession.”
He also had a main role on “CSI: Miami.” Ellingson was a regular on the program for 18 installments as the character Kyle Harmon. In 2010, as his stint on “CSI Miami” came to an end, he was last seen on screen.
Brooklynn survives her father, Ellingson. She came into the world in 2008.
