(DailyDig.com) – A 17-year jail term was handed down to Tammy “Sunny” Sytch, a former Hall of Famer in the WWE, for her role in a man’s death caused by her drunk driving. She got seven years for driving under the influence of manslaughter and ten for operating a vehicle with a suspended license, which caused death.
Sytch was four times over the permitted limit for blood alcohol when she crashed her automobile into another vehicle, killing a man of 75 years, according to Florida authorities.
Sytch, who, in 2011, was elected into the Hall of Fame for the WWE, did not contest the guilty plea in August to eight charges, including one charge of DUI manslaughter, four charges of DUI with harm to person, two charges of DUI with damage to property, and driving with a suspended license with death.
In 2022, on March 25, two cars were reportedly stopped at an Ormond Beach, Florida, traffic light. Sytch’s vehicle was being driven southward on U.S. Highway 1 when she plowed into the first of the halted automobiles, sending that vehicle careening into the vehicle ahead of it.
When officials arrested Sytch in March 2022 in Volusia County, Florida, they found an open container of vodka in her car and cannabis in her bloodstream.
During the sentencing hearing of Sytch’s trial on November 27, she was facing a maximum sentence of almost 25 years in jail. Sytch said in the courtroom that the death of Daytona Beach resident Julian LaFrancis Lassiter had left her with profound feelings of shame and guilt.
Sytch, who is 50 years old, had her driver’s license revoked due to her history of DUI arrests in Pennsylvania. A driver’s license for the state of Florida was missing from her possession.
The defendant has a terrible history of drunk driving, according to a statement released by R.J. Larizza, State Attorney, after the sentence was announced. She was certain to kill some innocent bystander at some point while driving intoxicated, Larizza said.
