(DailyDig.com) – As worries about listeria have grown, so have the number of recalled cheese products.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) are now investigating the detection of Listeria in cotija cheeses and queso fresco produced by Rizo-López Foods. The CDC reports that 26 individuals in 11 states have had a listeria infection.
The FDA has announced the recall of 57 goods due to the possibility of contamination by the potentially dangerous bacteria Listeria monocytogenes. Muscle pains, a strong headache, stomachaches, fever, nausea, extreme fatigue, or diarrhea are all possible symptoms of an infection.
The CDC cautioned that the epidemic probably impacted a greater number of sickened individuals than recorded, as some individuals may have healed without requiring medical attention or a positive test for listeria.
Sprouts store locations in Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama, North Carolina, and Florida sold the Chicken Street Taco Meal Kits that were the subject of the most recent recall on February 12.
The goods’ best-by dates range from November 29, 2023, to March 4, 2024, and their UPC codes are 205916414990. Customers should not consume the items; instead, they should return them to the store for a complete refund.
Fresh Creative Foods, The Save Mart Companies, Albertsons Companies, and Stater Bros. Markets have issued recalls for different versions of the Chicken Street Taco Kit starting on February 7.
There have been a total of 57 product recalls to date.
According to Rizo-López, they recalled a variety of dairy products, including sour cream, cheese, and yogurt, on February 5. The items were sold using brands like 365 Whole Foods Market, Casa Cardenas, Don Francisco, Campesino, Dos Ranchitos, El Huache, La Ordena, Santa Maria, San Carlos, Rio Grande, Food City, Rizo Bros, and Tio Francisco.
Due to concerns about listeria, Rizo-López ordered a recall of 344 cases of “Aged Cotija Mexican Grating Cheese” on January 11. There have been no recorded cases of sickness associated with this product.
