(DailyDig.com) – The actor from Canada, Chris Gauthier, famous for his acting in “Once Upon a Time,” “Watchmen,” and “Smallville,” died on February 23. He was 48 years old.
Gauthier’s talent agency, TriStar Appearances, reported on February 26 that he died following a short illness. They added that he was a character actor, beloved by many as he displayed his talent on TV and in movies. His family, friends, and fans feel his loss immensely. They asked for privacy so that the family could properly grieve.
RED Mgmt, Gauthier’s management team, stated that he was passionate, witty, kind, and empathetic. They miss him, and they mourn with his family, whom he loved so much.
Chad Covin, an agent with TriStar, told of his reaction to the news of his friend’s death. After talking to Gauthier’s wife, he was in disbelief for many hours. He said that Gauthier’s friendship, dedication, and enthusiasm had made a great impact on his life.
Gauthier was born in 1976 in England. He appeared in many movies and television shows as a Canadian actor. He played the role of William Smee, first mate, in “Once Upon a Time,” between seasons 2 through 7. He played the owner of Café Diem in “Eureka,” and a villain, known as Toyman (Winslow Schott) who faced Clark Kent in “Smallville.” He was a tormenting Dean on “Supernatural” and treated his fans to memorable roles in “A Series of Unfortunate Events,” “Watchmen,” and “Freddy vs. Jason.”
His credits also include a romantic comedy from 2002, in the role of Mikey in “40 Days and 40 Nights.” He also had starring roles in a few TV movies for Christmas. They included the series “Signed, Sealed, Delivered” and “Paper Angels.” The 2023 holiday movie for the Hallmark Channel, “Ms. Christmas Comes to Town,” was his last credit.
His family survives him: Erin, his wife, and Sebastian and Ben, his two sons. The family has not released any details about a memorial service.
