NATO Concentrates Warship Presence in Black Sea

(DailyDig.com) – On July 18, the Kremlin again warned that any NATO presence of a permanent nature in the Black Sea or on Russia’s borders with other nations would be considered a threat to their nation.

President Zelenskyy of Ukraine has stated that he will ensure that Russia will not control ship movements in the Black Sea, as Russia stated that they have been observing an increase in military warships in the area.

Dmitry Peskov, Putin’s spokesman, said the increase, especially from Romania and Bulgaria, are NATO members on the coast. He spoke at the July 18 press conference and told them that they see this presence off their coast as another threat to their nation, along with countries bordering Russia trying to join NATO.

Peskov declared that they will take all necessary measures to make sure the security of Russia is maintained. He said that all during the war with Ukraine, they sent missiles and drones from the sea to attack Russia’s homeland and their fleet in the Black Sea.

Zelenskyy, in backing up his statement to not allow Russia to control the Black Sea, stated that they are cooperating with the West to develop a strategy to maintain a presence in the Black Sea. Their strategy would give Ukraine the readiness to respond to any threat to its security by creating a permanent NATO occupation of the sea.

The Ukrainian military claims that their most recent drone strikes along the Crimean coast have successfully driven Russian vessels out of the region.

The Naval and Armed Forces spokesman for Ukraine, Dmitry Pletenchuk, said that Russia’s last patrol vessel in the Black Sea was currently pulling away from Crimea. He proudly described that day as a victory.

Prior to this retreat, Ukraine’s military used drones and missiles supplied by the West to destroy nearly a third of the Russian fleet.

Military observers have noted that Russia has been vigilant in protecting its naval vessel docks, as well as the deployed vessels, with extra diligence, despite Ukraine’s unverified claim.
