Actress Olivia Munn Reveals Breast Cancer Diagnosis

(DailyDig.com) – The actress Olivia Munn announced on March 13 that she had breast cancer. She stated that the aggressive cancer was fast-moving, but because it was diagnosed in time, she had options for further health care.

Her social media post stated that in February 2023, Dr. Thaïs Aliabadi, her OBGYN, had her take a Breast Cancer Risk Assessment. This took into account her age, being over 30 before having her first child, and her family history of breast cancer. Her score was 37 percent for her lifetime risk, which allowed her to take medical tests to find the cancer.

In her post, Munn said that she had four surgeries in the last ten months. As she went through the months of testing, treatments, and surgery, she found that the effort to focus on what she needed to accomplish left her little time to feel sorry for herself. She said she wanted her head clear in order to cope.

One of her last surgeries was a biopsy to determine the exact nature of the cancer. The biopsy results revealed that her cancer was Luminal B and was in both breasts. So, after 30 days from the biopsy, she was in the hospital for another surgery for a double mastectomy. Despite everything, she felt fortunate that the cancer was caught early enough to provide her with the treatment options she had.

Munn’s acting career began when she hosted “Attack of the Show!” on G4, a gaming network. She followed that job when she became a correspondent for “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart.” She then switched to other TV series and films, including “The Newsroom,” “The Predator,” “Office Christmas Party,” “Magic Mike,” and “X-Men: Apocalypse.”

She concluded her post by declaring her appreciation for her loving family, her friends, the doctors and nurses, and the staff of the hospital.

Munn praised her partner, John Mulaney, a comedian. The couple has one child, Malcolm, their son. She thanked him for being by her side all the way.
