(DailyDig.com) – After President Biden’s disastrous performance in the debate with former President Trump on June 27, Biden announced on July 21 that he was ending his re-election campaign.
Questions arose throughout the country about Biden’s ability to continue serving as the nation’s leader. Democrat leadership began pressuring him to step aside his campaign for re-election.
Biden’s withdrawal from his re-election campaign just three and a half months before the election, and just one week after an assassination attempt on Trump, left the nation in shock.
In his written statement, Biden said that he was honored to serve as the nation’s president, but for the benefit of the Democrat Party and the nation, he felt that he should be focusing on running the country by effectively focusing on his presidential duties. He will work the rest of his term, ending on January 20, 2025, to continue the progress his administration has accomplished for the nation.
He continued to express his gratitude to everyone who worked on his re-election campaign, as well as to Vice President Kamala Harris, who was his amazing partner. Biden concluded his letter by thanking U.S. citizens for their trust in him.
Following the publication of Biden’s letter on social media, he shared a new message endorsing Harris to succeed him as the Democrat candidate for president. He said he fully supports her being their nominee to coalesce as one in order to defeat former President Trump.
Harris thanked Biden for his support and praised him for the selfless act of stepping down from his re-election campaign. She stated that she would earn the support of Democrats to win their nomination as their candidate. She said that she will unite the party, along with the nation, in order to defeat Trump and the extreme agenda he supports.
It appears that many in the Democrat Party have moved to join Biden in supporting Harris’ run for the presidency. Former President Clinton and Hillary Clinton, former Secretary of State, joined with the Congressional Black Caucus to endorse Harris.
