Europe Given Ominous Warning of War

(DailyDig.com) – Charles Michel, the European Council president, has warned of the clear possibility of a world war with Russia very soon. In a published statement, Michel spoke of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and his belief that President Putin would not be content to stop with just the takeover of Ukraine.

Michel wrote of Russia’s destabilization of other nations, such as Africa, the South Caucasus, Georgia, the Western Balkans, and Moldova. This destabilization is proof that Putin will continue his push past the conquest of Ukraine.

Other leaders of the West have also warned that Russia’s goal will extend beyond Ukraine. Admiral Rob Bauer, the Dutch chair of NATO’s military committee, said early this year that their members must begin now to prepare for the Russian war within 20 years.

US President Biden also claimed that Putin would invade the member states of NATO. Denmark, Poland, and the UK military defense chiefs and ministers have also issued warnings regarding the prospect of Russia’s aggression against the alliance.

Michel’s call to “prepare for war” was aimed at western leaders and member states of NATO also, as they must change their focus to an economy that must become ready to fight war. They must build their defense readiness as they confront a security challenge for the first time since WWII.

He also wrote in his statement that NATO and European leaders must step up military assistance for Ukraine in their fight to repel the forces of Russia. If Ukraine falls to Russia, the next target will be the rest of Europe, according to Michel, so they must be ready economically and militarily to prevent war and secure peace.

Michel stated that Europe cannot rely on other nations to provide for their security. He referred to the US election focus having held up continued support for Ukraine and their defenses as their congress debated their priorities. The EU has increased its defense production since the Ukraine war by fifty percent. They have been slack on funding for defense for the last several decades, according to Michel.
