(DailyDig.com) – The award-winning actor George Clooney changed his support for President Biden when he stated that Biden would not give the Democrats their victory in November.
Clooney had hosted a fundraiser for Biden, replete with stars, one month earlier. Former President Obama and other top stars attended the fundraiser, which raised 30 million dollars. On July 10, he penned an editorial in the news media, highlighting both the fundraiser and Biden’s devastating performance in his June 27 debate with former President Trump.
He wrote that he believes in Biden’s morals, his character, and how he won most of the battles over the last four years. However, he cannot win his battle with time. “None of us can.” He stated that he witnessed Biden’s transformation during the fundraiser, noting that he was no longer the same dynamic fighter. Even Biden in 2020 is not who he is now.
The alarming behavior during the debate with Trump has refreshed calls for concern over Biden’s age and his diminishing chance of winning his reelection. Even with pleas to step down from his campaign, Biden has remained firm in his attempt to remain in the White House.
Clooney acknowledged that he might have been fatigued or suffering from a cold, yet the over 50 million viewers of the debate remained resolute in acknowledging what they witnessed. He claims that the Democrats are so afraid that Trump will win the presidency that the party leaders have chosen to ignore every sign that Biden may fail.
He emphasized that the issue pertains to age, a factor that is irreversible. Democratic leaders must address this issue and not dismiss those who point out the obvious as unfair.
He added that, after he spoke with governors, house and Senate members, they concluded that Biden would lose the election. They also agreed that they would likely lose the Senate and not take back the House.
He concluded his editorial by saying that Biden, in 2020, saved democracy. He needs to save it again this year.
