Jimmy Kimmel's Son Faces 3rd Open Heart Surgery

(DailyDig.com) – Late-night TV personality Jimmy Kimmel announced on May 27 that his seven-year-old son, Billy, underwent a successful third surgery on his heart.

Kimmel’s social media post stated that his son is recovering from what they hope will be the last open-heart surgery he goes through. He said the family approached the surgery with optimism and fear, but the result showed his child with a new valve and a healthy, happy boy.

He thanked the doctors, Tim Casarez, the cardiologist, Vaughn Starnes, the surgeon, and the entire staff of the Los Angeles Children’s Hospital. He said that while in the hospital, he met other parents who were as vulnerable as he was, other children who were in pain, and all the workers who performed miracles every day working to save children. He said that it was a truly humbling experience for him to observe.

Kimmel also thanked those unknown people who lovingly prayed for Billy, as well as the family and friends who surrounded them with unbelievable support. He also thanked his wife, Molly, for being stronger than any mother could be. Finally, he thanked Billy for being the funniest and toughest kid ever.

He ended his post by declaring that nothing is more important in this world than caring for others, and he encouraged others to donate to Children’s Hospital. He also emphasized the importance of sending prayers and love to the families and children at the hospital.

Billy had open-heart surgery at the age of three days after his birth due to a heart defect known as Tetralogy of Fallot with VSD.

Many of Fallon’s fellow Hollywood personalities made comments in support of his social media post. Olivia Munn commented that they love Billy, that little warrior. Jenna Dewan wrote that she was sending so much love to Billy, Molly, and Jimmy.

Other personalities, such as Michelle Pfeiffer, Ellen DeGeneres, John Stamos, and Helen Hunt, also posted comments of support and love on Kimmel’s social media post.

Kimmel and his wife, Molly McNearney, have two children, nine-year-old Jane and Billy.
