(DailyDig.com) – Australian television personality and vocalist Johnny Ruffo died at age 35 from cancer of the brain. His family stated that he died on November 3 while he was with his loved ones.
In 2017, Ruffo received a brain cancer diagnosis and subsequently underwent tumor removal surgery; however, three years later, the malignancy reappeared. In August of this year, Ruffo disclosed that he was now fatally ill.
Following his 2017 brain cancer diagnosis, he became an active campaigner, contributing to the increased awareness of the disease in Australia. He kept up until the end and gave a full effort during his struggle. His family remarked that he had more that he wanted to offer and a most beautiful soul. He died peacefully, with his family and companion, Tahnee Sims, by his side. They also said he appreciated the assistance of his extraordinary nurses and physicians.
In 1988, Ruffo was born in Perth. Initially, he garnered widespread recognition as a participant on the reality program “The X Factor,” where he secured the third spot in the 2011 season. After recording a duet with his former “X Factor” coach Guy Sebastian and signing an agreement with Sony Music Australia the following year, he competed on the celebrity competition “Dancing With The Stars.”
Chris Harrington, the affable jester and first son of affluent parents, whom Ruffo portrayed in the serial opera “Home and Away,” debuted in 2013. Throughout his three-year run, Harrington had multiple affairs in Summer Bay with different women. Ruffo received a nomination for the 2014 Logie Award for the top new talent in recognition of his performance.
He subsequently released a number of recordings, competed on Australia’s “Dancing with the Stars” for a season, and portrayed Chris Harrington for three years on “Home and Away.”
In 2017, Ruffo was diagnosed, and he entered remission after being treated for two years. He disclosed the recurrence of his brain malignancy in November 2020. He declared his malignancy to be terminal in August 2022, concurrently with the publication of “No Finish Line,” his memoir.
