(DailyDig.com) – Melissa Barrera is returning to the Radio Silence realm with the filmmakers that directed her in “Scream” from 2022 and “Scream VI.” It was only reported earlier during the week of April 10, that the actor would play a leading role in the next monster thriller being produced by Radio Silence for Universal.
Both Tyler Gillett and Matt Bettinelli-Olpin are responsible for the direction of this terrifying monster movie.
At one time, “Dracula’s Daughter” was going to be the name of the new project. It was going to be about a team of kidnappers who were going to take a bunch of young adults hostage, one of whom was going to be Dracula’s daughter.
The new movie will reimagine one of Universal’s iconic monsters, but the specifics are being kept a secret. The film will be similar to the studio’s recent films like “Renfield” and “The Invisible Man” in this regard. It will be a novel and exciting take on the way these time-honored personalities are commemorated in the future.
Radio Silence members Tyler Gillett and Matt Bettinelli-Olpin will be in charge of directing the picture, while Chad Villella, also a member of the filmmaking collective, will be working as a producer for Project X Entertainment with James Vanderbilt, Paul Neinstein, and William Sherak. Stephen Shields was the author of the screenplay, while Guy Busick was responsible for the modifications.
Barrera made her way back into the franchise to star in “Scream VI,” which went on to become the highest-earning installment of the Scream film series. The 25-year-old “Scream” series was given a fresh lease on life for a new generation of moviegoers with the 2022 film.
In addition to her prior work, which includes “In the Heights”, she will soon be seen in the Sony Pictures Classics production of the musical “Carmen”, in which she will star alongside Paul Mescal. Barrera is represented by the firms of Tara Kole and Danny Passman, in addition to WME and Sugar23.
