Popular Candy Recalled Amid Contamination

(DailyDig.com) – Partners are often used to produce many confectionery food products for sale in grocery or supercenter stores, but not the stores themselves. On May 6, 2024, the US FDA recalled about 30 products from one of those partners, Palmer Candy, located in Iowa.

On May 18, the FDA released an announcement that they added two more products to the recalled list. Palmer Candy received a warning from their supplier of liquid coating about the possibility of Salmonella contamination, despite the fact that no reports of illnesses were made. The supplier suspected the contamination came from another supplier’s ingredient that they used in their coating.

The FDA stated that Palmer Candy has suspended producing the products listed as potentially contaminated as the agency continues to investigate where the source is from.

The FDA reports that Target, Hy-Vee, Walmart, and Dollar Central are the four nationwide retailers affected by the recall.

Wyoming, Wisconsin, Virginia, Texas, South Dakota, South Carolina, Pennsylvania, Oregon, North Dakota, Nebraska, Missouri, Kansas, Iowa, Illinois, Florida, California, and Alabama were the only states to receive the products.

The packaging for the products is in an assortment of containers, such as tubs, pouches, or bags. The following recalled products are listed by name:
