Russia Launches Massive Attack Across Ukraine

(DailyDig.com) – On December 29, Ukrainian authorities reported that a Russian airstrike had targeted several business and residential structures across the country. More than 150 people were injured, and 30 individuals were killed as a record-setting number of drones and missiles were launched at locations around the nation.

According to the Ukrainian Air Force, during the attack that took place overnight, Russia used a mix of drones and cruise missiles. The capital city of Kyiv, as well as the western cities of Lviv and Odessa, and the eastern cities of Dnipro and Kharkiv, reported explosions. Overnight, Russia launched an attack using around 110 missiles, as reported by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

The Ukrainian Air Force reported shooting down 114 of the 158 drones and missiles fired, including 27 of the Shahed drones and 87 of the cruise missiles. The incident has resulted in the confirmation of 30 individuals killed and more than 150 injured, according to the Internal Affairs Ministry of Ukraine.

Russian troops extensively used Shahed drones, also known as suicide or kamikaze drones, during the conflict initiated by President Vladimir Putin in February 2022.

According to Serhiy Popko, the commander of the military administration in Kyiv, scores of missiles of different sorts were fired against them. From all sides, he said, they rushed up to the city in waves, killing and destroying much in their path. Debris had fallen around the city, causing fires.

The regional governor reported that the maternity unit in Dnipro sustained damage, but no injuries were reported. The strikes have resulted in casualties and injuries, according to a statement from Zelensky. Emergency personnel were out working at all hours of the day and night.

Those who have suffered the loss of a loved one have his deepest sympathies, he said. He hopes the wounded get well soon. He vowed that the Ukrainian people would not give up the struggle for their safety. Russian terrorism will ultimately fail.

No word from the Kremlin on the assault just yet.
