Senator J.D. Vance Announced as Trump's 2024 Running Mate

(DailyDig.com) – Former President Trump, a presidential candidate in the November election, announced his choice for his running mate, JD Vance. Vance, a Republican from Ohio, is a current member of the Senate.

The announcement came on the first day, July 15, of the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Vance had previously been a critic of Trump, but as he started his career in government in 2023, he became one of Trump’s most vocal supporters.

In his social media announcement, Trump stated that he had considered many talented people for the VP position but eventually decided on Vance for the role. He was best suited to fulfill the duties the vice president would require. He said that Vance would be a strong asset to his ticket, as he would focus his attention on the very people he had fought for as a senator. His work and passion for American workers and farmers in states such as Ohio, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Minnesota, and Wisconsin have been tireless.

Prior to his role as senator from Ohio, Vance was a US Marine soon after high school and served in Iraq during the war. After graduating from Ohio State University, he attended Yale University to receive his law degree and moved to California to work for a venture capital company. He wrote a book, “Hillbilly Elegy,” a story of struggle living in poor working-class America. The book became a bestseller and was made into a Netflix film.

In a 2021 interview, Vance apologized for criticisms he made of Trump. He originally didn’t think he would be a successful president, but as it turned out, he was outstanding as the president of the US. He informed the interviewer that this was the reason he was striving to secure Trump’s second term.

During his run for the Ohio Senate seat in 2022, Trump endorsed him, which carried him to his victory over his Democrat rival.

Currently, the vice presidential rivals are engaging in discussions about their upcoming debate. The two campaigns must agree on the debate format, location, and presenters.
