“The Office” Actor Dead, Aged 50

(DailyDig.com) – The Welsh actor Ewen MacIntosh, famous for his role as Keith Bishop in “The Office,” a British comedy, died on February 19 during his stay at the care home, Willow Green. He was 50 years old.

MacIntosh’s management company, Just Right Management, announced his death was peaceful. They mourn the loss of their beloved friend and comedy genius, and they inform all of his fans and friends that his family wishes to thank them, including Willow Green.

The management company spokesperson, Chelle Just, said MacIntosh has suffered ill health for much of the last two years. Her statement told of a wonderful person who brought laughter to all and possessed a very kind heart. They will miss him dearly.

Ricky Gervais, the co-creator of the British version of “The Office,” posted a tribute to MacIntosh on Twitter, calling him an original.

Born in Wales, MacIntosh attended the University of Edinburgh, where he took linguistics courses. He became part of the university’s theater and an improv group called “The Inproverts.”

MacIntosh was well known for the character he portrayed in “The Office,” Keith Bishop. He was an accountant for Wernham Hogg, whose message for his voicemail was a disinterested monotone.

Stephen Merchant, co-director and co-writer of the show, said in an interview that MacIntosh was such a comedic genius that they wrote him into more scenes as his portrayal of Keith allowed him to steal the scenes when paired with Gervais or Martin Freeman as Tim. Merchant praised MacIntosh for infusing each scene with an added dimension of understated humor.

MacIntosh was also involved in other events and movies. He was in a music video for the charity, Chris Rea’s “Driving Home for Christmas,” in 2009. He was also in “The Lobster,” a 2015 Yorgos Lanthimos movie that starred Olivia Colman and Colin Farrell. He was also in the shows “Little Britain” and “Miranda.”

A family and friend cremation service will be observed soon, and a memorial celebrating his life will occur later this year.
