(DailyDig.com) – Anheuser-Busch’s Bud Light brand has had a tumultuous year after a controversy about featuring a picture of Dylan Mulvaney, an activist, on a Bud Light can. Revenue declined in the US from a grassroots boycott to over 15 percent by the end of the fourth quarter.
The UFC, however, continued to make Bud Light the MMA’s official beer in late 2023. Dustin Poirier, who claimed victory during a UFC 299 in Miami earlier in March, joined a partnership with Bud Light. In an interview recently, he stated that he was excited about the partnership when they called him to be on their team.
He said he is not afraid of any backlash regarding the boycott. Bud Light and the UFC have been together in business for quite some time. People want attention to their reasons for boycotting anything. That’s the way life goes. In business or fighting, there will always be positives and negatives. As people live their lives, they learn from experience and keep going forward. He explained that it’s the same in fighting; always moving to the next day, the next fight.
Poirier continued by saying that Bud Light and the UFC are starting a partnership, but they have been with the Octagon, a competition mat for the UFC, for quite a length of time. He does not see a problem with his partnership with Bud Light; they learned their lesson. He stated that his career in fighting has been as tumultuous as their year has been.
He concluded by saying that he would be able to beat anyone in fighting, but he could also lose to anyone. He is human and has been in fifty fights with high successes and low failures in his sport. But partnering with Bud Light is just like his fights, moving forward no matter the success or failure. Just like with Bud Light, they learned a valuable lesson to aim for improvement from the last endeavor by training hard, fighting hard, and living hard. “That’s life,” he said.
