WWE’s Vince McMahon Sued for Trafficking

WWE's Vince McMahon Sued for Trafficking

(DailyDig.com) – On January 25, a former employee of WWE sued WWE founder Vince McMahon, claiming that McMahon had physically abused, assaulted, and trafficked her.

Janel Grant, a former employee at WWE’s headquarters, sued McMahon in Connecticut court, claiming that the WWE CEO offered her a job in return for explicit favors. Among the individuals cited as defendants in Grant’s case are McMahon and retired wrestler John Laurinaitis, whom she claims McMahon trafficked her.

The inquiry into McMahon’s alleged misbehavior during his tenure as CEO and chairman of the firm was concluded over a year ago, and Grant’s accusations followed that inquiry. Even though he stepped down from his position in July 2022 due to the probe, McMahon is back at the helm of WWE’s parent corporation.

The complaint claims that once Grant’s work and personal connections ended, McMahon coerced her into entering into a confidentiality agreement in return for three million dollars in payments spread out over many years.

The parent company of WWE, TKO Group Holdings, released a statement stating that McMahon is not in charge of TKO or the daily operations of WWE. While the current TKO executive team was not involved in this situation when Grant made her accusations, a representative from TKO assured Grant that the firm is taking her claims seriously and is handling them internally.

A representative for McMahon said that the complaint included several unfounded allegations, a malicious misrepresentation of facts, and outright falsehoods. He will stand firm in his defense.

Ann Callis, Grant’s attorney, said on January 25 that the complaint aimed to punish two WWE officials for assaulting and trafficking her client, including the company that either enabled or refused to acknowledge the abuse and eventually hid it. Callis elaborated by saying that Grant is suing in the hopes that it will stop other women from becoming victims.

The complaint claims that Grant endured significant and persistent stress as a result of being exploited while working for WWE and being exposed to many humiliating actions.
